Terms of Service

HelloSSam is an “online platform that provides 1:1 Korean conversation practice via video calls”, connecting foreigners with Korean native tutors. Tutors set their own hourly rates, and the Company collects a platform service fee upon completion of each lesson.

• Students may be residents of any country
• Tutors must be Korean native speakers residing in Korea
• All information provided upon registration must be truthful

• One account per person is required
• Creating multiple accounts may result in permanent suspension
• Users are responsible for managing their own login credentials
• Report any suspected unauthorized use of your account immediately

• Tutors receive 80% of the payment after the platform fee (20%) is deducted
• Tutors must attend confirmed lessons on time
• Repeated no-shows or same-day cancellations are grounds for account suspension
• Directing payments outside the platform is strictly prohibited

• Attend booked lessons on time
• Respect tutors; harassment, discrimination, or inappropriate language is grounds for account suspension
• Prepay tuition when booking a lesson

The following actions are strictly prohibited.

• Recording, sharing, or distributing lesson content without the other party’s consent
• Making payments outside the platform or circumventing service fees
• Providing false information regarding identity, Korean proficiency, or qualifications
• All forms of harassment, violence, or discriminatory behavior
• Using the platform for purposes other than Korean conversation practice

HelloSSam “charges a 20% platform service fee on the payment amount” upon lesson completion. The fee is automatically deducted from tutor payouts, and students pay the full tuition set by the tutor with no additional fees.

As an intermediary platform, HelloSSam does not guarantee the quality, accuracy, or learning outcomes of lessons. To the extent permitted by applicable law, “the Company’s total liability arising from platform use shall not exceed the amount paid by the relevant member within the 30 days prior to the claim.”

The Company may amend these Terms in accordance with applicable laws. Material changes will be notified by email at least 14 days prior to the effective date. Continued use of the Platform after the effective date constitutes agreement to the amended Terms.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea, and disputes shall be subject to the Seoul Central District Court as the court of first instance.
